Michael McClain

In this dual leadership role, Michael oversees all aspects of the firm's discovery processes and technology infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence and other emerging tools that are transforming how cases are managed, analyzed, and presented. He drives the firm's technological innovation, identifying and spearheading all technology and AI initiatives and applications—from implementation and training to the ongoing professional development of the lawyers.

As Discovery Counsel, Michael sits at the critical intersection of law and technology. He guides attorneys through rapidly evolving digital landscapes, collaborating with vendors to tailor solutions for the firm's lawyers and clients, and providing hands-on support to case teams in resolving intricate discovery challenges.

His client-facing responsibilities include advising on data collection protocols, explaining legal and technical compliance issues, and ensuring alignment between technological capabilities and litigation objectives.

Michael also exercises significant administrative oversight, managing litigation support and technology departments, supervising all outside vendors, and leading efforts to integrate digital tools seamlessly into practice.

In the courtroom, he delivers technical and legal assistance during trials, conceiving and developing demonstratives, and contributing to strategic presentation planning that enhances the advocacy of the HS team.

Beyond operational leadership, Michael is a key contributor to HS' Professional Development Program, focusing on technology and discovery topics to equip the firm's attorneys with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an increasingly tech-driven legal environment. Further, he is responsible for developing all the relevant instructional and educational materials for the team.
