Marilyn Yuan is a commercial litigator with experience in disputes involving founder disputes, intellectual property, and labor and employment. A versatile and dedicated advocate, she leverages her varied experience to provide practical and creative solutions for clients.

Marilyn advises individuals and companies across diverse industries. Her expertise encompasses a wide range of subject matters, including complex commercial, contract, employment disputes, defamation, and intellectual property matters.

Marilyn is valued for her a client-centric approach to her practice and dedicated advocacy. She understands clients each have their own unique set of circumstances and goals, and tailors each strategy and solution to those realities.

Marilyn also has a deep commitment to pro bono and public service. In law school, she served as the chair of multiple student-run pro bono projects, including the RAP Sheet Assistance Program which worked in partnership with the Brooklyn Defender Services and the Bronx Defenders to improve the lives of individuals caught up in the criminal justice system

A lifelong New Yorker, Marilyn previously served as a legal fellow at a leading national animal welfare organization where she focused on corporate compliance and commercial transactions. In that capacity, she advised internal stakeholders on regulatory obligations, contractual commitments and best practices, and developed strategies for ensuring compliance and facilitating innovation while managing risks and liabilities.

  • Part of trial team that won a $52 million defamation award in FINRA on behalf of a hedge fund portfolio manager against his former employer
  • Representing real estate investment firm in a contract dispute against the guarantors of a development project of two-mixed used properties in Brooklyn
  • Malicious prosecution action against Deutsche Bank on behalf of Matt Connolly, a former trader at the Bank who was acquitted of all criminal charges related to LIBOR market manipulation
  • Representing of an early-stage technology startup against a co-founder for misappropriation of company information and trade secrets
  • Represented of a leading California cannabis in multi-jurisdiction litigation against its former Chief Executive Officer.
