John (“Jack”) Millson is a commercial litigation and employment attorney who handles complex disputes, investigations, and high-stakes proceedings on behalf of clients across the financial services industry and beyond.

Jack represents individual and corporate clients in a wide variety of matters throughout the litigation lifecycle from pre-dispute counseling to trial. In his employment practice, he also counsels employees and employers on all aspects of workplace issues and relationships.

Jack also represents companies, executives, employees, and boards of directors in regulatory and governmental investigations, as well as conducting internal probes for corporate clients. He has served on trial and arbitration teams in significant employment, IP, financial, and other high-profile business disputes.

Before joining Harris St. Laurent, Jack was counsel at Dewey Pegno & Kramarsky LLP, and began his legal career at Cahill Gordon & Reindel, LLP.

Jack’s notable representations have included being part of trial and arbitration teams that:*

  • Represented a leading global wealth manager pursuing claims against a competitor for unfair competition and misappropriation of trade secrets arising out of the hiring of more than one hundred senior wealth managers. After a multi-week arbitration, in which Jack examined numerous witnesses, the Panel issued a unanimous award in favor of the client.
  • Represented a nationally pre-eminent medical group in the sale of its practice to a prominent hospital, along with the negotiation of long term post-sale employment agreements.
  • Represented and conducted investigations for independent committees of the boards of directors of multiple Fortune 500 companies...
  • Defended a leading hotel brand against claims seeking to enjoin a $13 billion merger. The New York Supreme Court, Commercial Division, denied the claim for injunctive relief, which was upheld on appeal, and allowed the merger to proceed.
  • Defended a leading ETF issuer against claims that it had breached fiduciary duties and defrauded a contractual counterparty. The New York Supreme Court, Commercial Division, dismissed the non-contractual claims following a motion to dismiss.
  • Defended leading global wealth manager in FINRA arbitrations brought by former employees asserting claims for deferred compensation arising out of the wind-down of a business line.
  • Represented pre-trial detainee who suffered serious injuries while incarcerated awaiting trial. Following a summary judgment decision by the Eastern District of New York permitting all of the client’s claims to proceed to trial, achieved a favorable settlement
